From the Westport League of Women Voters:
The introduction and remarks of the uncontested candidates for the Board of Education and the debate for the Board of Finance will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. On both evenings the doors will open at 6:15 in order for the voters to have an opportunity to meet and question RTM candidates for their respective Districts until 6:55 when we ask that all enter the Westport Town Hall Auditorium where the debates will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.
The format will be the Modified Cumulative Time Format. Candidates will have no opening statement but will each have a two minute closing statement. For a more complete description, please see the enclosed sheet. The public is invited and will be asked to submit written questions to the moderator. Questions will also be taken from the television audience by email.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization that promotes political responsibility through the informed and active participation of citizens in government. It neither supports, nor opposes, any political party or candidate. It is our policy to restrict the wearing of buttons or displaying of signs during the debate or in the auditorium itself. There will be a table in the lobby for political literature. In addition, individual videotaping of the debate is not permitted without the consent of the League of Women Voters. The debate will be televised live on Public Access Channel 79. It will also be taped and rebroadcast on the same channel. It will be video streamed at www.westportct.gov until Election Day.
